The Social Investment Fund (SIF)’s Small Grants Programme is open again for applications, aimed at assisting charities and non-profit organisations (NPOs) which support Bailiwick residents.
Since the programme was launched in 2021, 90 small grants have been awarded, totalling around £950,000.
Applications are now open to registered charities or NPOs operating within or to benefit the Bailiwick of Guernsey and applications should be focused on people in our community, on the services and support they need, or are of benefit to our community.
Under the programme, organisations can apply for a grant of up to £25,000 to put towards one-off projects, capital expenses, or running costs of up to a year’s duration. Applications for salary costs within specific projects, usually of up to one year’s duration, will be considered and any other salary costs may be considered on an exceptional basis for no more than one year.
Applications must support one of the following outcomes:
•Improving the lives of people with specific needs, disadvantages or vulnerabilities
• Employment, education or training opportunities
• The protection of our natural environment, culture and heritage
• Improved health and wellbeing for our community
• An inclusive community, which challenges the barriers causing disadvantage or discrimination
Earlier in 2024, 13 organisations were awarded a total amount of £121,772.
The Guernsey Sports Commission received £10,000 towards the operational costs for a Safeguarding and Welfare Task Force; Vive La Vallette was awarded £6,000 towards Chair Yoga sessions; and the Priaulx Library received £7,250 towards project support for their digitisation programme.
£12,500 was awarded to the Bowmen of Guernsey towards the provision of a concrete foundation for their new equipment store and Headway Guernsey benefited with a grant of £10,000 towards rent for 2024 at its KGV base.
A wooden skatepark is being built within the old swimming pool area of the old St Andrew’s Primary School, with funding of £14,402 awarded to the Youth Commission – Guernsey Skateparks; and in Alderney, the Rugby Football Union Club received £5,000 towards coaching, police checks, travel, equipment and insurance costs.
Sadie Siviter de Paucar, Lead Officer of the Social Investment Fund, said:
“This is our second round of small grants funding in 2024 and we encourage charities of any shape or size across the Bailiwick to apply for support for running or project costs that they are struggling to fund. Small grants support essential costs that charities can sometimes find it difficult to fundraise for.”
For this programme, SIF works with the Guernsey Community Foundation which provides administrative support in coordinating applications. Charities can complete and submit an application form online through SIF’s grant application portal.
Organisations can review full information about the grants programme, including the full list of recipients and a link to the application form here. You can also contact the Guernsey Community Foundation on grants@foundation.gg or 259523 for any queries about the programme.
Complete applications must be received by 12pm on Monday 28th October.
